Shawn just recently launched her new companion iPhone Apps (OMG! and LOL) that provides novice texters and confused parents the ability to look up thousands of abbreviations in the snap of a finger.

Shawn is the CEO of Granite Insurance Brokers (www.graniteins.com), a company she started from scratch in 1994 after she was told it would be impossible and that “Girls don’t sell insurance”. Not only was it possible, but her company continues to see double-digit growth year after year. In 2005, Shawn saw a void within the independent insurance industry, and decided to be one of the sole solutions by developing proprietary one-of-a-kind software (www.ecomp.us) that’s enabled her company to obtain tremendous and unique success in the pay-as-you-go marketplace.
Shawn has two teens that text a lot, a wonderful husband that only reads them, and a mom she had to teach to text, which was her inspiration to write Read Between the Lines… to help bridge the communication gap between the three generations of women by teaching them to connect more often by text message. Aside from being a wife, mom and CEO, she strives to live a healthy and balanced life by staying true to her passions.
Shawn’s mission includes raising public awareness about textual harassment, cyber bullying and sexting, which have all become very prevalent in the texting world. During her “Parental 411” speaking events, Shawn clearly walks through the steps parents should take to limit their children’s exposure to the nasty side of technology.
